Winter Escape 2012

Yesterday was a snow day!  Our first this winter, and it is lovely to look at, our winter wonderland...

Snow days mean bad driving conditions and that means few, if any customers here at the shop.....but there is an upside to no customers,,,,I got a lot of paperwork finished and drum roll please,,,,,,,,planning for the 2012 Winter Escape!
Ellen, Ginger and Diana and Me
The escape is March 2, 3 and 4, held at the Mayville Inn, as always.  Yesterday's planning produced a jam-packed schedule of fun and learning and partying....So, with the schedule ready, I am able to accept registrations starting Wednesday, January 18 at 10 AM.. Space is limited to 25 participants, so don't delay, the Escape fills up fast....$50 for the weekend.  No refunds. Stop in Wednesday to register or call 929 387 9960 and pay with a credit card.  With paid registration you will receive the tentative class schedule, supply lists and other info will be mailed to you.
Looking forward to another fun filled weekend at the The Mayville Inn

Holiday overload?

If you are still on holiday overload, I advise you to skip this post....don't say I didn't warn you...
My Christmas things are packed away and my house looks a little drab and bare,,, so I made a few Valentine Hearts to hang around.  Yes, Valentine Hearts.  I went from one holiday directly to the next, no break...

Inspiration came from digging through my stash of odds and ends, giving myself permission to use whatever I wanted in whatever way I wanted..
Collecting bits of jewelry, trims, fabrics and beads is something I have done for many years, and each one of these hearts carries a story with it.

The purple heart in the photo below is made from a scrap of velvet from dresses I sewed for my daughters in 1981.

A vintage applique from a long worn out dress adorns this heart.
The yellow heart frames a photo of a farmer from Betty's youth in Illinois.

This one is my personal favorite, channelling the Bee Gees from 1971, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?

The hearts are for sale at Loose Ends, maybe they can brighten your home a little bit this winter, and share their stories with you. :)
